Why the silan system?
Most Physical Therapy programs are built around diagnoses, not people. You come in with a herniated disc, you get the herniated disc protocol. You're given exercises most people respond to. If they don't work for you — you're discharged, referred out, or told to manage.
After three decades of clinical practice, I saw this gap clearly: the patients who stayed stuck weren't failing therapy. Therapy was failing them, because it wasn't designed for the complexity of their individual body.
The Silan System was built to close that gap.
Where traditional Physical Therapy often applies a standardized protocol to a diagnosis, the Silan System starts with the individual. I evaluate not just the site of your pain, but all of the body systems that may be contributing to it — myofascial, neurological, musculoskeletal, and nervous system — because in complex or chronic pain presentations, the source is rarely where the symptoms are.
At the core of this approach:
Gentle-first, always — I begin with the least provocative technique and work toward deeper intervention only when needed. If your tissue is guarding, no technique will be effective, and I will not push through that.
Muscle isolation over compensation — Your brain is extraordinarily clever at finding workarounds. I identify and interrupt compensatory movement patterns so we can strengthen the right muscles, not just the loudest ones.
Individualized, not averaged — What works for most doesn't work for all. I don't apply a one-size-fits-all program; I search until I find what works specifically for your body.
Function-forward goals — Your treatment is designed around what your body needs to do once you leave my studio — whether that's tending your garden, returning to sport, managing a full work day, or simply sleeping through the night.
