Building balance and strength doesn’t have to mean more time at the gym. Some of the best chances to work on them are already part of your day: brushing your teeth, waiting for your coffee, moving the laundry, doing the dishes, or sitting through the TV commercials. Those few minutes add up, and they’re a wonderful place to start.
That’s why I put together this free guide, 10 Sneaky Ways to Build Balance & Strength. It’s a two-page handout with ten simple moves you can weave into the things you already do every day. Try Brush & Balance while you brush your teeth, Calf Raises at the Counter while your tea or coffee is brewing, or TV-Time Squats during the commercials.
Print it out and keep it somewhere you’ll see it, like on the fridge or by the bathroom mirror. Start with the moves that feel comfortable, keep something sturdy like a counter or handrail within reach for the balance and step moves, and add more as you feel ready. Strong today, steady tomorrow!
Not sure if it’s balance, strength, or both?
Maybe you feel a little wobbly on the stairs, or getting up from a low chair takes more effort than it used to. Balance and strength work hand in hand, and it isn’t always easy to tell which one needs the most attention. Often it’s some of both, along with other things like your reaction time or stiff joints. The good news is that these are all things you can work on, and the right exercise may help you feel steadier and more confident on your feet.
Here’s how I can help:
- BalanceSteady fall-risk assessment & action plan. A 60-minute, one-on-one session with me at Therapeutic Connection in Waikoloa Village. With over 35 years in Physical Therapy, I’ll look closely at your strength, flexibility, posture, gait, and balance, and you’ll leave with a written action plan made together with you.
- Personal training. When you’re ready to build strength, we can work together at the Therapeutic Connection gym or virtually from wherever you are, with every session built around your body and your goals.
