Aquatic Therapy

What is aquatic therapy?

Aquatic therapy is exercise and movement performed in water. The water’s buoyancy supports your body and takes weight off your joints, while the natural resistance of the water helps you build strength — all in a gentle, low-impact setting. It can be a comfortable way to keep moving when land-based exercise feels like too much.

How does it work? Standing or moving in water reduces the load on your joints and muscles, so you can work on strength, balance, and mobility with less pain and less risk of strain. Because water provides resistance in every direction, even gentle movements help build muscle and support bone health. Sessions are one-on-one and tailored to your needs and goals.

How aquatic therapy may help

  1. Eases stress on joints — buoyancy reduces the impact on hips, knees, and the spine, which can make movement more comfortable for those managing arthritis.
  2. Supports recovery — a gentle environment to rebuild strength and mobility during post-operative rehabilitation.
  3. Builds strength — the water’s resistance helps strengthen muscles and support bone health.
  4. Improves balance and mobility — practice moving with confidence while the water supports you.
  5. Low-impact comfort — keep active without the joint stress of land-based exercise.

Senior aquatic therapy

For seniors, aquatic therapy offers a safe, effective way to improve strength, balance, and mobility without the joint stress of land-based exercise. The water’s buoyancy supports your body while providing resistance to build muscle and bone health.

Aging doesn’t mean accepting pain, stiffness, or loss of independence. Personalized one-on-one sessions help you move comfortably, recover faster, and stay active with confidence — whether you’re managing arthritis, recovering from surgery, or simply want to keep doing what you love.

Aquatic therapy is offered in-home. If you’re not sure whether it’s the right fit for you, reach out and we’ll talk through your needs together.
